The novelties offered by the nineteenth edition of La Festa del Cactus are varied, but prominent among them is the presence of the first non-European nursery company specializing in succulents that has ever exhibited in Italy: the Thai Little One Plant Nursery, which offers a most interesting selection of rare and unobtainable succulents including a unique selection of hybrids of euphorbia of which the company is a leading producer in the world.
No less interesting is the first Italian public appearance of the company EPRIC, recently relocated to Italy and owned by Dutchman Frank Supplie, who stands out in the world for his enormous expertise in the field of Epiphyllum hybrids and Rhypsalis, the “easter cactus.” On this occasion Frank wanted to make a contribution to Festa del Cactus by registering two new cultivars with this name. In his exhibition space, Frank has set up a wonderful photo exhibit depicting some of his creations. For those more interested in the world of epiphytic cacti, Frank has reserved some specimens of species never seen commercially, expertly cultivated.
A special thought goes to dear friend Dino Pelizzaro, an expert in rare tropical essences who chose to take part in our event with a selection of uncommon bromeliads, in addition to his usual display of unusual plants.
Among those who offered original handicrafts, one cannot fail to mention Ceramiche dall’Etna by friend Cristina Bonanno, who paints evocative images of the land of Sicily on slabs obtained from Muncibbeḍḍu basalt, and Panaturarte by Petr Batal, a master potter from Bohemia engaged in the production of small, natural-looking pots, ideal for housing succulent plants.
