Tillandsias are not new to Festa del Cactus, but with this edition their presence becomes an absolute must, since they are tropical plants with marked adaptations of xerophyticism, that is, the ability to survive in environments where water in the liquid state is scarce, such as the canopy of rainforests or cactus-inhabited deserts like the Atacama Desert in Chile.
Pablo Salamanca, owner of the nursery Tilaria in Barcelona, Spain, is a tillandsia specialist, combining production of the most widespread species with the rarest and most elusive, such as miniature tillandsias.
