We are a botanical nursery founded in 1995. Since then we have always worked to provide unusual plants to our customers. Our production varies and is enriched every year and is particularly aimed at amateurs, collectors, botanical gardens and anyone interested in unusual plants not readily available on the market. Our nursery is also committed to introducing new unusual species into cultivation. We sell only healthy plants grown and raised in our nursery in appropriate substrates that meet the requirements of the various species. We are not resellers, nor do we sell plants that have been uprooted in the wild.

At Corazza Nursery, plants are also experimented and studied. We also check the taxonomic correctness of the accessions in our collections.

We also serve as a conservation center for some species that are grown ex-situ with locality data in our nursery.

The hardiness of the plants is indicated in the catalog descriptions, if experienced, relative to the climatic conditions of our outdoor nursery in Pietrasanta, Tuscany, Italy.

We are available to our clients to provide advice on cultivation and botanical information in a serious and scientific way, possibly by email.

UNUSUAL FOOD PLANTS

Authors: Lucia Cortopassi, Gianluca Corazza.
Editions: Il Campano, Pisa, 2014.

ISBN 978-8-8-86528-264-9

This work is a guide to the knowledge and use of unusual food plants, but it is also a message to the reader informing him or her of the existence of a huge hidden but extremely important and interesting biodiversity worthy of protection and better use. A suggestion, an example, an open window into the very wide world of food plants, with species sometimes known but often only marginally, and with other species often completely ignored.

As many as 50 unusual food plants are recommended, described and presented. There is also a chapter with illustrations of some of the very many unusual cultivars of common species. Crowning the work is a useful guide to self-purification of pure seeds, which also helps the reader become a “keeper” of the unusual cultivars he or she keeps in cultivation, and some pointers on how to obtain hard-to-find food plants.

A book dedicated to those who want to enrich their vegetable garden and turn it into a place of experimentation and progress, but also to farm managers who wish to be the “pioneers” in growing something unusual and attractive by addressing an increasingly conscious and attentive clientele.

176 pages, 15 × 21 cm format, 98 color photos, glossy coated paper.
