The Festa del Cactus is now in its 18th year. Eighteen uninterrupted years of an event that has established itself as the national reference for all those who love succulent plants, but also for those who seek an event that, despite the hundreds of thousands of plants offered for sale, offers content that goes far beyond the commercial interests of the sixty exhibitors who participate.

What dominates is, more than ever, the spirit of friendship and the sharing of the common passion for the cultivation of these plants, with the fundamental support of the educational and informative activities carried out by the associations and simple groups of enthusiasts who come from all over Italy to meet punctually under our flag. In this regard, a big surprise was the arrival of a bus from Austria with 30 new friends.

There was no shortage of news regarding the exhibitors, with the welcome participation of the famous Cuba Nurseries of Fontane Bianche (SR), which offered wonderful specimens of hard-to-find plants raised in the open ground under the wonderful Sicilian sun. From the Netherlands we greatly appreciated the presence of Gerrit Melissen who was offering important specimens from his collection, and, with immense pleasure, we once again hosted Silvia de Pretto’s company Hoyamia, with whom we hope to resume a path abandoned a few years ago. Still on the subject of Hoya, we were honored by the presentation of the first Italian-language book devoted expressly to the cultivation of this interesting succulent genus by co-author Agostina Righi.

Worthy of a separate mention are Daniele and Silvia of Stranger Plants, who came to our event to offer wonderful carnivorous plants of their own production, and Carlo and Federica of RuNi Ceramica with their wonderful artistic pots.
